In this webinar, Gina will discuss the different types of embalming methods, plastination and it's history, museum potting, as well as what it takes to make prosections alongside diving into the ethics, public display laws, consent, how these methods are actually achieved and how the law has changed over the years.
As Gina's developed as an anatomy technician, she has had the opportunity to use many of these techniques in her day to day job and will give us an insight into how they work to create the resources we use in our teaching. 

At the time of this talk, Gina was a Specialist Technician and Interim Manager in the Medical Teaching Unit, University of Sheffield.

Webinar with Professor Helen Nicholson and Associate Professor Stephanie Woodley on Thursday 9th March 2023 at 19:30-20:30 GMT. 

In 2021, FICSAP and FIPAE ran a survey to understand what support anatomists, at varying stages in their career, had found useful in the past and what help they need now. This seminar will present the findings of this survey. Data will be presented according to the stage – early, mid or advanced – of the anatomist’s career and related also to their geographical location.

The aim of the Federative International Committee for the Support of Anatomy Professionals’ (FICSAP) is to provide support for anatomists throughout their career. To inform the work of the committee, it collaborated with the Federative International Programme for Anatomy Education (FIPAE) to run a survey in 2021.

Professor Helen Nicholson is a Professor of Anatomy and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the University of Otago in New Zealand. She is also on the Executive Commitee of the Intenational Federation of Association of Anatomists (IFAA) as the Chair of FICSAP.

Associate Professor Stephanie Woodley is an Associate Professor of Anatomy and an Associate Dean (Academic) in the School of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Otago in New Zealand. She also serves as a Council member for the Australian and New Zealand Association of Clinical Anatomists (ANZACA).
